I.S.C.A. ( Aboriginal Sports ) Athlete Player of the Month for December, 2010.
The Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League is pleased to announce the winner of the North Division Player of the Month for October - Heather Kashman of the Edmonton Thunder.
Heather was named to Team Alberta female hockey for the Canada winter games in Halifax in February. The official announcement on the teams took place at a press conference at Rexall Place
Heather is currently leading the AMMFHL in scoring as she had a big month offensively as a catalyst to the team. The Edmonton Thunder is undefeated and currently in first place overall and Heather’s contributions are a big reason for the team’s early success. Her offensive play has been outstanding but her defensive play has been even better as she has played in all situations such as penalty killing and matching against other teams top offensive lines which has helped make the Thunder top defensive team in the AMMFHL.
Heather is the Thunder’s team captain as selected by her peers back in September. Since then she has led the team on and off the ice by example. She displays that she truly cares for her teammates with her time and constant communication. This past month Heather has taken the lead in organizing Thunder players to volunteer their time at a local charity.
She was recently named north division player of the month for her Midget AAA hockey league in Alberta - which is a high honour. she has recently been offered an athletic scholarship to the University of New Hampshire.
Her team recently cooked and served a meal for the Edmonton Urban Native Ministry where Heather occasionally volunteers.
She also was MVP for the native provincials hockey midget team last year (Jesse was the coach) and her team won the gold medal.
More Information on Heather Kashman and that event can also be found on the team website.
