| 2. How do I register to compete in? |
To register as an athlete for NAIG, you must:
- Download, completely fill out and sign the athlete’s registration form - download form located under Resources;
- Download, read and sign the Code of Conduct form - download form located under Resources;
- Fax both completed forms to the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta at (780) 585-3342.
| 3. How do I register to become a coach for? |
To register as a coach for Aboriginal Team Alberta, you must:
- Have completed your Level 1 Coach’s Training through NCCP;
- Have completed your Aboriginal Coaching Manual ACM;
- Download, completely fill out and sign the coach’s registration form - download form located under Resources;
- Download, read and sign the Code of Conduct form - download form located under Resources;
- Fax both completed forms to the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta at (780) 585-3342.
| 4. What do I do if I don’t have a Status, Treaty or Métis card? |
If you do not have official proof of your indigenous ancestry, you must download and completely fill out the Declaration of Indigenous Ancestry Form, get to have sendorsed by a recognized Indigenous organization, and fax it back to the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta at (780) 585-3342 with your completed, signed registration and your signed Code of Conduct.
| 5. How do I figure out which age group I/my child should compete in? |
Competitors born in 1994 -1995 should be registered in the Bantam age category.
Competitors born in 1992 - 1993 should be registered in the Midget category.
Competitors born in 1989 - 1991 should be registered in the Juvenile category.
Competitors born in 1988 or earlier should be registered in the Senior category.
| 6. How do I get exemption to compete in a higher age category? |
To compete in a different age category, download the Age Classification Exemption form, fill it out completely and fax it back to the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta at (780) 585-3342 with your signed, completed registration and your signed Code of Conduct.
